Curling things are happening

My hair appt on Dec. 11, my hair style lasted 2 wks in a bun. Wearing my hair in an updo has really become my best style in these early stages of growing out my relaxed hair. When April washed my hair, we discovered no breakage of the relaxed hair and another 1/2" of new growth. Since my hair was up for two whole weeks, the amount of strands in the shampoo bowls was minimum; yay.
I'm on my way to natural without doing the "BIG CHOP". However, the next months (events) will test my theory that I can wear my hair in an updo until next July. Here's to another updo until my next appt on Dec. 21st.
Even though my hair is pulled back, my curls are evident and strong. Don't get seasick of these waves (:-), I tell people, look at my good hair. Until next time, have a good one. Thanks to everyone for your encouraging words and support with your won experience.

Todays visit (Nov. 27, 2012) to the shop was interesting as I needed to cover my gray on my hairline. April darkened my hair w/a reddish under tone. Check me out, and look at my "good hair"; it's exciting to see my hair transform. In these photos, you see the final product however, my hair is doing pretty good during this season. Hopefully, my hair continues to progress as it's exciting to surf the web and read others blog about their experience. I must admit, I had a few "pops/breaks" at my crown, that's what I get for trying to comb my hair w/o using Hydrate by Design Essentials.

Hair update

November 13, 2012 I officially have 1 1/2 " new growth of natural hair, yippee.  Wow, these few weeks have been interesting, spiral set and being creative have just begun.  I'm excited to see what it will look like in Dec.

Salon update

Since my last post, I've walked the Austin Heart Walk (3.1 miles) and 2-strand twist my hair and the morning of the event, I untwist and pinned them back.  When I twisted my hair it was not wet nor did I add any products.

8wks into the transition

Tradition blog
My last relaxer was in Aug. 2012 after I committed to participate in the Austin Marathon (1/2 marathon) on Feb. 17th, 2013.

My first style was a roller set with some twist on my left side as that's the shorter since I cut it in the summer, really cute but didn't think I was going to transition to natural.  That style lasted for 1 1/2 wks.  I finally washed my own hair and twisted it with 2 strands and that lasted for 2 wks as well.

My key so far is to get a style that doesn't have to be maintained daily.  My flat irons are still rolled up, this is great news.  I use coconut oil, HCO and leave in conditioner and wear a hair bonnet in the evening.

Not having a relaxer at its due time seems strange but doable at this point.  My coils seems small, I'm anxious to see what they look like in 6 months.
