305 days later

Time has gone by, it's been 10 months since this journey began. During this 10 months I recently washed my own hair, wasn't as to bad like I thought. However, I don't want to get use to washing it myself until I cut my remaining relaxed hair off. I can see myself cutting my hair in August. Now that is going to be interesting, still thinking about a style once I cut it. Here are a few photos from my last 3 appts. Check out my waves, they are thick and sexy. These twist are going to come in handy in July. My gray hair is stubborn and only likes my hairline, lol. The above photos shows my hair in a damp state, I have about 3 1/2". This hair style is my first roller set 2 weeks ago, given my schedule and work out plan, my hair only lasted a week.

Habit starting: going to straight

They say forming a habit take 21 days or longer 8 months depending on the activity. In any case, my hair has started a habit of being curly, April and I shocked it during my visit on April 11th. We flat ironed it, wow, it has grown after being up for 3 months straight. Having the right products make the difference for anyone transitioning; we used Avocado, Rosemary and Nature's fast growth essential oils. My hair has really grown in 4 months: I really enjoyed having my hair down however, wrapping it every night; I can do with out at this time. Until next time....

Getting clean hair is HARD

As it turns out, washing a head of hair is time consuming and imagine when you have 2 different textures. With 8 months of new growth and many years of relaxed hair. My shampoo experience during my visit on April 2nd seemed different. This visit to my favorite salon was special because Darlene my friend who is also transitioning was there; look at her curl pattern, just beautiful. Having my hair is a protected style for another 2 weeks, I must admit my shedding is very minimum. I decided to get my hair style in a previous style but it turned out different anyway, lol. My good hair is coming along (sshh) don't tell Ms. Larina that I said that. She scolded me in the salon and said baby, "everybody has good hair"; I was like, not like my good hair, smile. This is a journey, I tell you, but enjoying the ride.

8 months and counting

My my time fly's by, it's been 8 months since starting my adventure to the nature world of hair. I notice more nature hair styles now more than ever before. Some are cute and others, not so much. This style was something that April and I put together since I wanted some twist to hang down. However, having my hair up for another 2 is just beautiful. My scalp is healthy, look at the new growth, I'm on my way, I have about 3 1/2", oh yeah. Avocado oil is working really well... I took my curls down 11 days after the appointment.

Waves are coming!!!!

It's been awhile since I've blogged about my latest styles and new products. I've worn my hair up in a bun for a month; don't be sarcastic; April washed my hair biwkly, smile. I must say, given my work schedule and kids social calendar, having it up really helps. I'm using Avocado oil and Nature's Fast Grow by B's and it's great. My hair isn't oily but its really soft. My "good hair" is really coming through, drum roll, my natural hair is officially at 3" long. Seven months of no relaxer, time really does fly by. Darlene, myself and hopefully have decided not to cut our hair until Dec. of this year. That will be 17 months of transition, there's no turning back now. Ladies we can do this.... I look for small things to help me along this journey, the below picture is a small ball of hair that I shed after 2 weeks in a bun, that's exciting. My hair isn't shedding, this Avocado oil, is "magic" to my pores. The below pictures are from my appointment on Jan. 22nd, things are looking wavy.

First hairdo of the year

Well my blogging continues, my adventure in terms of hair styles and maintenance has officially started for 2013 on Jan. 9th. April and I have a strategy of doing hair based on milestones events until this Fall. As you can see below my hair has grown another 1/4" or so. My secret, is not to wash my own hair but I did in between appointments.
In between my appointments, I tie down my hair nightly and continue to spray oil sheen.
As you know, I made the decision throughout this journey not to chop my hair off. So if you have any ideas or suggestions for updos, reply to this post as I will them, smile. This style is a creation from April, I had no idea what it would look like. Turns out, it's fabulous and I received many compliments. You should've saw me going to a local shop looking for Kanekelon hair :-).
Today is Jan. 21st and I'm still wearing this hair style, yay.
April used Avocado oil, Design Essentials (shampoo and conditioner), Clear gel with a little of coconut oil.

Last appointment of 2012

My last hair appointment of 2012 and I decided to have my hair stylist (April of BLLING in Pflugerville, TX) to flat iron it out. We had a family photo scheduled and I didn't want to have my hair up. My hair grew another 1/4" in 2 weeks..
During my few months of this journey, I've worn my hair up and refused daily routine of doing it daily. Here's a photo of my finish product, I will not be wearing my hair down until spring. April does a great job of managing my hair, you would think my hair is relaxed.
